Tour of the City Business Library and the Guildhall Library
Tuesday, 25th January 2011 at 6:00pm till 7:30pm
The City Business Library and the Guildhall Library are probably names that you know well - but don't have a clear view of what they can offer the Law Librarian or where they are based in the City. Now is your chance to find out by joining our visit to their newly opened premises in Aldermanbury! City Business Librarian Considine Goretti and Principal Librarian Dr Peter Ross will be our guides.
The City Business Library has an impressive range of freely available company, country and market research hard copy and electronic resources and can also offer you a fee-based research service called 'Focus Research' for when you cannot visit in person.
Although the Guildhall Library specialises in London History and is not a law library as such, it has one of the best public law collections in London. All of the material is available without formality and includes English historic and current case law and a good general collection of other constitutional law materials. In addition, the Library subscribes to The All England Law Reports and many other specialist law report series. The Remembrancer's Law Library is a collection of legal materials and case law which provides coverage (with gaps) from 1500 onwards and comprises many short runs of law reports. The Library also holds extensive but incomplete runs of historic Public and Local Acts and Statutory Instruments - and offers a fee-based Pepper v Hart search service.
After the visit there will be an opportunity to network as we repair to the Red Herring pub (a Fullers pub) on nearby Gresham Street.
